Inside Architecture + Design
Inside Architecture is a week-long summer experience for students who are curious about the world of design. The School of Architecture + Design at Virginia Tech is offering its tenth summer workshop for high school students June 29 - July 3, 2009. This course is an outreach extension of a curriculum that has been recognized as the top ranked program in the country.
All students starting grades 9-12 and interested in SEEING, MAKING and THINKING are welcome to this on-campus studio introducing architecture and design as a line of study.
For individuals thinking about a career or an education in architecture or design, this week-long session will give intense exposure into the ways in which the designer thinks and works. Primarily a hands-on experience, students will work with long time educators and practitioners in exercises designed to stimulate discussion and discovery of issues affecting the profession. No prior course or subject experience is necessary, just the initiative to break the bounds of conventional modes of thinking.
The course consists of five days of full instruction as a part of the Summer Session of the College with the opportunity to interact with ARCHITECTURE and DESIGN STUDENTS during their Summer Studios.
The course is taught by faculty who have dedicated their careers to architecture and design education.
